Understanding how the foot and lower limb functions are important in solving your pain. A biomechanical assessment is a process we undertake to understand your mechanics. We measure foot, knee and hip range of motion using a variety of techniques and instruments. Your Podiatrist will then relate these findings back to your problem and use this information to tailor a specific plan for you. This may involve custom foot orthoses, stretching and strengthening, shockwave therapy, dry needling or other prevention/ rehabilitation strategies.
A biomechanical appointment usually goes for 40-50 minutes and is a comprehensive analysis of your mechanics.
Custom and Prefabricated Foot Orthoses
The upmost precision is required when prescribing custom foot orthoses. Our Podiatrists will ensure that our custom foot orthoses specifically target any abnormalities in your gait and help to reduce any pains you may be experiencing.
Shock Wave Therapy
Shockwave therapy is a safe, powerful and effective treatment option for many injuries of the muscle, tendon and bone. It is a revolutionary medical device, that has been used in Australia for over 15 years by Orthopaedic surgeons, physiotherapists, podiatrists and other specialists.
It is a great alternative to pain medications, corticosteroid injections and surgery.
Dry needling is a modern therapy designed to ease muscular pain. Our Podiatrists will place fine needles in “trigger points” in your muscle tissue. Dry needling is also sometimes called intramuscular stimulation. Dry needling can help to reduce muscle pain and spasms.
Physical Therapy – rehabilitation for your sports injury begins with a diagnosis and an individualised program of return to sport. We will ensure each program is specifically tailored to your needs. Our goal at Central Podiatry is to get you back on your feet pain free. Some aspects of physical therapy may include stretching and strengthening exercises, manipulation and mobilisation techniques to your injured joint
Nail surgery is often required for reoccurring ingrown and infected toenails. Commonly referred to as a PNA (partial nail avulsion) It is a procedure carried out here at the clinic under a local anaesthetic that will permanently remove the offending piece of nail that has been causing problems.
